Closed for submissions. We will open on the 30th of April 2026.
We will open to novel, novella, and short story collection submissions from Scottish writers, writers based in Scotland, or Scottish writers by inclination on April 30th 2026.
Scots and English submissions are both welcome.
We publish books on the smaller end, so epic fantasy novels 100,000+ words long won’t be a good fit. Novellas will fit better than novels, but we are open to both.
We are also not a good fit for poetry (poetic prose yes, but straight up poetry no), standard romance, or non-fiction.
We are not accepting children, middle grade, or young adult stories.
Both agented and non-agented submissions are welcome.
We don’t want books written for the market as we’re not chasing it.
We don’t care what’s currently selling.
We don’t want copy-cat versions of popular stories.
We don’t want stories full of adverbs and ones always telling over showing.
What we do want is great stories.
We want characters we care about.
Give us your best.
No unfinished pieces of work.
And absolutely no AI.
Please send a cover letter in the body of the email, including a short bio, with the first 10,000 words and a synopsis / breakdown of the book attached as a Word document to tantallon2001@gmail.com
We publish both print and digital, and digital-only. Please indicate if you are open to having your work published in the digital only format or not.
We endeavour to get back to everyone who submits in the open window within six months. If you haven’t heard anything after six months, feel free to get in touch.
